Basingstoke and District Disability Forum

The Forum was launched in November 2008 following an event the year before to see if the Borough wanted to have a Disabilitiy Forum that would widen the remit of the then existing Access group to include all disabilities including: Mental Health, Sensory, Physical and Learning. The Forum is the bridge between local groups and the statutory organisations so please contact the co-ordinator if you have any concerns, need information or would like to join the Forum. Membership is free. They want to be the voice of people with any disability in the Basingstoke and Deane area.

There is a Steering Group and sub groups dealing with issues relating to Forum members. The Forum links into 2 existing partnerships - the North Hampshire Mental Health Forum and the Basingstoke and Rushmoor Learning Disabilities Partnership. This format allows everyone to have their say and to voice their issues. The Steering Group is made up from representatives from the User Groups plus invited representatives from local statutory bodies eg the Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council etc
For more information contact the Administrator on 01256 423869
The Forum has also produced an Introduction Leaflet and a series of Signpost Leaflets to provide information for people with disabilities
